As giants slumber

Like a thousand nebulae bathing the night sky

And like a river meandering through the heavens

A comet trails frozen ice, as I look up for a second, grasping eternity in a glance &

Thunder on a cloudless night, echoing in the distance – far off, dark and lethargic,

juxtaposition of movement, sinewy seconds slither ever onwards grasping gravity in their pull,

And that eternity passes like eons in the Hindu sagas,

Stars die, our very own galaxy will collide with another

And our pale blue dot may be swung out into bleakest space, vagabond amid the stars of heaven

a momentary blip in the timeless eons until space implodes into time and the devils start scratching at the door

That comet may see the death of the universe

That lonesome traveler drenched in the eternal night

Maybe that is why we send wishes after them

so that they will take our messages to the end of time
