Happiness is in the motion and striving
If happiness and fulfilment rest on the other side of resistance and fear then the resistance I feel to acts of growth such as exercise, reading and studying is showing me the way to my own personal greatness, to who I want to be but also the desire of who I am in the present moment.
It is the striving towards a worthy aspiration that is the satisfaction in life and idle comfort is its Faustian bargain. We sell our souls to the Devil for a meagre price and think comfort is the reward of our deal and the sum aim of all our life, but it is the chain and it is the yoke that binds you. The reward is continual pursuit, continuous struggle, constant striving towards your own lofty height. That is what our brain’s are designed for. Ultimate satisfaction is in the pursuit.
A truly meaningful life is found in the leisure of your struggle, and it matters not how relatively large or small a struggle it is, merely that you are pushing your limits and exposing yourself to greater and greater spheres of stimuli, staying humble in your lessons and grateful for those teeth cracked from grit.
The goal of life is to be truly present in that moment of such struggle and the concept of enlightenment itself is grounded in one’s ability to act eternally in this moment with awareness and attention, which is the intention of mind one places in one’s frame of reference.
In short: If you are struggling, if there is resistance, you are on the right path.
